No matter how long the Winter, Spring is sure to follow…

“Spring is when life’s alive in everything.” ~Christina Rossetti

Apparently there are astronomical and meteorological seasons – so if you follow the astronomical method, Spring starts between March 20th and June 21st , but if you follow the meteorological calendar, it starts between March 1st and May 31st (who knew?!)

March 1st is St. David’s Day and I have always associated this day with daffodils and the start of Spring. so despite the freezing temperatures, it is the start of Spring in my mind – and my favourite season.

My mother was Welsh so daffodils have always had real significance for me.

It’s also the month when most people celebrate Mother’s Day (11th March 2018) so here at Mellow, it’s one of the busiest times of the year making up personalised Gift Sets so that mums can pamper themselves with lovely natural products.

These gift sets are bespoke on request, but our customers LOVE it because they can mix and match ALL their favourite Mellow products made especially for them.

Some people think that Mother’s Day has become over-commercialised because the cost of flowers and chocolates suddenly escalate, but I’m sure you would agree that it is a special day which should be recognised and doesn’t have to cost the earth.

It doesn’t cost anything for small or big children to give their mum a treat of breakfast in bed, or keep the cost low with gifts that they have made themselves and it means so much more to know that so much planning has gone into it.

You might want to spoil your mum by cooking for her or taking her out for lunch. Personally, that’s a real treat for me !

Of course, it can be a reflective or sad day also, especially if our mums are no longer with us, but most people have a significant female in their lives and whatever the situation, honouring those people on Mother’s Day is one of the greatest gifts you can give her.

My daughter has become a mum for the first time this year so there will be an extra celebration in our household.

So don’t forget the 11th of March
If you are a mum yourself, I hope you get pampered and have some amazing treats but most of all I hope you get to feel special. After all, we deserve it don’t we?

Otherwise, mark the day to honour mums past and present and enjoy.
